Tips To Live On The Plant-Based Diet With A Budget
The plant-based diet can be pretty expensive if all of the products bought are either organic or meat alternatives such as Beyond Meat’s products. Did you know that it doesn’t have to be that way? We can go on a plant-based diet with a budget! Here are some tips:
1. Not Everything Has To Be Organic
Some people think that a plant-based diet means everything organic. People buy organic fruits and vegetables because they have no pesticides. There is nothing wrong with buying organics but if it burns a hole in your wallet, perhaps it is time to make a few changes.
You may only choose organic when it comes to the Dirty Dozen items. Dirty Dozen is a list reported annually by the Environmental Working Group consisting of 12 non-organic fruits and vegetables with the highest pesticide residues.

2. Shop At Cheaper Supermarkets
If you’re living in Malaysia, you may be familiar with Giant, NSK and AEON supermarkets. Besides supermarkets, visit the farmers market. You can find cheaper organic produce. Not only that the fruits and vegetables are fresher, but at the same time you are also supporting family farmers 🙂
3. Buy Dry Ingredients In Bulk
Dry ingredients such as oats, nuts, seeds, beans, and even plant-based milk. You can even opt to purchase these at any online discount stores.
4. Sales? Time To Stock Up!
You know the drill. You see sales, you buy! I do this when it comes to nuts and seeds (can’t eat my morning oats without them). When your budget allows, why miss such amazing deals? You will not regret it!
So, friend, are you convinced now? Are you willing to give this diet a try? A diet that has been scientifically proven to benefit our physical and mental wellbeing in many ways. What are you waiting for? Let’s go for the plant-based diet with a budget!
