Stay Healthy This Festive Month: It’s Possible with these 3 Ways

2021 is coming to an end. No doubt there will be lots of celebrations in December, such as Christmas parties, year-end gatherings with friends, and weddings.

During this festive month, people will often go all out to celebrate and enjoy the happy moments and this includes eating a lot of food high in carbohydrates, sugars, fats. Also combined with late night sleep and zero exercise, these habits will eventually compromise our health and immune system.

Check out our 3 easy ways for you to stay healthy during this festive month:

Exercise at least 30 minutes, 3 days per week before going to bed.

When we talk about exercising, many people will say their schedules are packed and there is no time for a workout. Actually, exercise doesn’t mean that you will need to do vigorous running around your living area or do HIIT at home.

Light exercise can also help maintain your health and reduce risk of getting diseases if you exercise consistently. The point of exercising is to improve our health, more than aiming to lose weight.

Experts recommend exercising at least 3 days per week, at least 30 minutes per day to maintain body health and release mental stress. Highly recommend it to people who are busy and stressed a lot throughout the day.

Here are some light exercises and full body stretches can be done on bed:

  • Glute Bridge
  • Donkey Kicks
  • Child’s Pose

Advisable to complete the low-impact exercise at least 1 hour before bedtime.

Psst…the best thing about consistent exercise is that you get better quality sleep!

Eat more fruits and vegetables for body detoxing.

Outside food is normally loaded with carbohydrates, fats and proteins but lacks vitamins, minerals and fibers. Therefore, we need to consume half a plate of fruits and vegetables every day in order to maintain a balanced diet, especially after enjoying too much oily or fried food.

Some fruits and vegetables that are good at detoxing:

  • Apple
  • Lemon
  • Cabbage

These are rich in vitamin C and they have excellent antioxidant properties which are able to:

– eliminate toxic substances in our body

– protect against diseases and carcinogen (cancer cells formation)

Be sure to eat more fruits and vegetables that help you to clean the toxic substances out of your body.

When eating out, choose meals that have good fats.

Here at Savor Of Life, we encourage plant-based eating. You can consume good plant-based fats, and they are often found in meals containing avocado, nuts, seeds, olives, etc.

Try to include these plant based fats into your everyday meals :

  1. Avocados
  2. Nuts (almonds, walnuts and pecans)
  3. Seeds (sesame, pumpkin and sunflower seeds)
  4. Canola oil / Extra Virgin Olive oil
  5. Yogurt

These are good plant-based fats that are able to raise HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) to reduce risk for cardiovascular disease. Surprisingly, these foods are also great protein sources for vegans! Did you know Avocado is also one of a few high-protein fruits?

When you’re craving for some healthy snacks, opt for healthy nuts and seeds as they also contain fibers, vitamin E and minerals (phytates).

Of course, if it’s not possible to get any plant-based meals, you can opt for good animal fats such as salmon fish – they’re rich in Omega 3 too! Omega 3 can help to reduce inflammation in your body and decrease the risk of getting diseases. Besides salmon fish, tuna and mackerel are the good-to-go animal fats as well. When it comes to meat, it’s always better to opt for white meat rather than red meat.

Finding it hard to include these good plant-based fats into your diet? Don’t worry, Savor Of Life is here to support you in your healthy journey. We provide healthy, balanced and tasty plant-based meals to your doorstep.
