4 Interesting Ways To Make Your Run Fun
Here are 4 ways to make your run fun.
To some of us, running can be boring. But without a doubt, we know that running or jogging is healthy – physically and mentally.
Have you ever experienced that jolt of motivation to run? But once you arrive at the park or the gym, you get demotivated because it is…simply boring.
This does not only happen to beginner runners. Surprisingly, to seasonal runners as well, but what keeps them going? Read on!
Choose a different route
Sometimes, when things get dull, it doesn’t mean that you have to quit. You may probably just need to make some changes. When running does not seem interesting anymore, choose a different route for you to run (make sure it is safe first). If you’ve been running on trail A, choose trail B. Or if you’ve been running on the treadmill, try running out at the park or anywhere new to you. Explore the new trail, path, the unfamiliar slope – running is not that boring after all!
Listen to music or podcasts
If you haven’t done this, give it a go! If you’re a fan of music, choose your favourite playlist (or create a new one) and listen to it while you’re running.
According to author and clinical psychologist specialising in sport and performance psychology, Chris Friesen, people are “more open to new information and more creative while running”. Hence, we are encouraged to listen to podcasts while on the run. Not only that we get to learn something new, but it also offers a sense of productivity because hey, it’s killing 2 birds with 1 stone!
Play I spy during your run. This particular game is famously used by parents to keep their children occupied when they’re on a long drive. To make it more of a challenge, add additional rules such as “moving objects only”. Or look for any 1-digit number around you (e.g. signs, car plates) and whatever that number is, ask yourself what’s your favourite memory *insert number* years ago. That should keep you entertained as you reminisce about the past while you run.
Run with an app…and win medals!
There are many running apps out there that allow you to win medals! So if you’re into collecting medals, there are many apps for you to choose from. To make your life easier, check out 42race and justrunlah. You’re welcome 🙂
